This is my recommendations for future behaviour based on my past experience. I tried to share 15 Great Lessons you can learn from my IoT Experience.
1. Plan it properly
Clear vision is required before starting anything in IoT. Whether you want to sell your product, or you want to sell as a service etc.
2. Engage Teams before the start of IoT Project
IoT is not only a technical implementation, every partner should be involved from the very starting for a better understanding of the product. Involve teams like Sales, Marketing, Support and Product team.
3. Well Defined End to End Process
There should be well defined end to end process. To achieve better results, we should not jump process.
4. Share your knowledge.
Discussion is main part of this process we should not confine IoT to a single team . Involve as many people as possible initially, to get more ideas and to achieve better results.
5. Acquire Skills
Skill is mandatory for this type of project. Before starting any discussion, team should have at least fundamental skills to get more involved in the project.
6. Every problem should be aligned with business strategy
Without business strategy we cannot achieve anything. So, every thought should be aligned with business strategy.
7. Do not waste your money.
Please do not waste your money before having a final Vision. Product is very much important . If you are purchasing IoT Product then you should be well aware about that product and its capabilities. Do a POC, understand load handling capacity, scalability features, high availability support.
8. What you are going to do with Data
IoT means huge amount of data. You should understand that we are going to further process this data. So, Data Analytics team should be involved in very initial discussion.
9. Data Security
IoT send data in huge quantity with different kind of information. Some of it may be sensitive. So, our priority should be to secure our data.
10. Hardware Security
Every device with Sensors has good chance of an attack because now every device has an OS, processing capability and connected with internet.
11. Adaptability
Implementation is one part and adaptation are another because technology adaptation comes with awareness. Normally we develop many things, but it is not necessary that everything is useful for us.
12. Focus
IoT contains so many things that it is not easy to focus on our goal. So, we always should have plan to focus on our goal.
13. Sustainability
Implementation always requires sustainability. It is not always true whatever we develop we will sustain it for long. But here in case of IoT we have invested Hugh amount, so we should always try to sustain it.
14. Integration
IoT requires lots of integration starting from edge device to dashboard to data analytics.
15. Continuous Feedback
This is much-evolving technology, so we should always take continuous feedback from channel partners, product owner or client to evolve our product.
So, these are 15 Lesson which I learn during my implementation of IoT Project. It is very difficult to stick with it, but we should at least try.
